Term 4 Week 1

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

CONGRATULATIONS TO O UR OPEN GIRLS’ TOUCH TEAM!!!

Huge congratulations to our amazing girls for what was a massive win on Monday against Telegraph Point Public School at South Tweed Rugby League grounds. With the final score a commanding 11 - 0, our girls are now NORTH COAST CHAMPIONS! Well done girls; individual brilliance and fabulous team work were both highlights. The girls have been coached by Paul Parker and Mrs Stewart and I know all girls would join me in thanking both Mrs Stewart and Paul for their work in preparing the team so well. From here our girls will head to the State Carnival where they will play off against other regional champions for the State Title. I have watched a lot of touch football over the years and feel that our girls are in with a very big chance to win the competition. Wow; you are an awesome team. Good luck. We are very proud of all of you.

TERM FOUR – YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO FINISH THE YEAR WELL

All of a sudden it is Term Four; the final term of the school year. For students in Year Six, it is your last chance to ready yourself for high school in 2018. Your opportunity to realise the independence you will need as you walk out the school gate for the last time on the last day of T4; Friday December 15th. Your Year Six teachers are here to help as you prepare for high school; make sure you make the most of every moment remaining this term. This involves good decision making and consistent application each day. The Year Six Graduation Assembly is set for Tuesday December 12th. For students K - 5, it is your opportunity to consolidate ahead of Semester Two reports, due to be finalised and distributed to parents Monday December 11th. Knuckle down and set some goals for the final term of the year. What is it that you need to refine, resolve, improve and consolidate? You can do it. You will succeed if you know what you want to improve and what you need to work on. You need to ask for help from your teacher, your friends at school and mum and dad at home. Only you can do it.

TWEED SCHOOLS TO RECEIVE $100 MILLION IN UPGRADE

You may have seen the article in the Tweed Daily News on September 19th pointing to a $100 million dollar investment in Tweed schools. The article indicates that the $100 million will be spent on local schools following community consultation. As Principal of Banora Point PS, I have put forward a proposal for more permanent classrooms to replace demountables. I will communicate further as more details arise.

BPPS OOSH TENDER IS NOW FINALISED

In recent months Banora Point PS led a process for the tender of the school’s Out Of School Hours care service. A number of high quality tenders were received and I am pleased to confirm that ‘Little Grommets’ will continue to operate at the school. Thank you to our school P&C President Mrs Karen Wicks and School Administration Manager Mrs Debbie McGann for joining me on the panel for this process.
