This week with our Relieving Principal - Joanna Henderson

Term 1 Week 3

Dear Parent/Caregiver

CONGRATULATIONS TO:

Our student leadership group who were inducted at this week’s school assembly. All students who participated in the school swimming carnival organised by Mrs Gill last week and best wishes to our representatives at the district carnival at Banora Pool next Wednesday 15th February.

STUDENT AFTERNOON DEPARTURES

There have been growing concerns regarding the safety of our students in the afternoon as they leave the school grounds. We have included this information in this week’s newsletter so families can familiarise themselves with the safe practices we have in place to minimise congestion and disruption and ensure the safety for all our families. Students being picked up by car are required to use the Drop Off Zone to ensure safety of all students. Please do not use Durigan Place to collect children as this makes it unsafe for students walking home and using the footpath area.

P&C EXECUTIVE POSITIONS

We would like to welcome new and familiar faces at our P&C meeting this Thursday night. Only parents and community members who attend this Thursday and pay their $1 membership are eligible to vote for their representatives at the AGM in March. If you are interested in discussing the roles of President, Treasurer or Secretary please contact the Principal for information. Nomination forms will be available from the office closer to the AGM.

PERFORMING ARTS

Some of our performing arts group activities will resume this week – this includes band lessons with Mrs Seckold (Wed and Thur) and drumming (Wed) with Rob Walsh. The senior band (Wed 8.00am) and junior band (Thur 8.00am) rehearsals as well as Flamenco (Wed) and Boys’ Hip Hop (Thur) dance groups begin next week.

SCHOOL PHOTOS

School Photos will be held Tuesday 21 February and Thursday 23 February in our school hall. Envelopes with ordering information will be distributed this week. All students will have their photo taken regardless of whether they return their photo envelope. The photos will include a portrait and a traditional class photo. Please not that late orders attract a $20 surcharge. Sibling Photo Envelopes will be available from the school office. Appointments for Sibling Photos should be finalised prior to photo day by calling MSP (please see sibling envelope for more information). All students should be in day uniform. This includes black school shoes. Girls should be wearing green, white or black hair accessories. Students return their photo envelope on this day and hand it to their teacher.
